The OECD together with the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) is pleased to invite you to join the 9th of a series of webinars with prominent international experts to discuss the relationship between higher education and their innovation ecosystems, continuing on from our previous on-line meetings, about the Geography of Higher Education (GoHE).

The next guest of the series GoHE in Conversation with… is Javier López Martínez, Director, Social Impact, Santander Universities. In our webinar, Javier will provide insights about international practices concerning the role higher education institutions play in digital ecosystems, and new approaches to promote (inclusive) digital skills.


Javier López Martínez is the Director of Social Impact of Santander Universities, within the ​​Banco Santander group. In his function, Javier is responsible, among other issues, for the scholarship programmes, the institutional relations, and the impact evaluation of the Santander Group’s support for Higher Education.

Javier has an extensive experience in the university field, especially as an expert in technology transfer and science management, working as a consultant for relevant research centres and universities in Spain, as well as for other research institutions, in Mexico, Chile, and Colombia.

Before joining the Santander Group, he has been Vice President of the Spanish Association of Foundations, member of the Research Forum of the European Centre for Foundations and Director of the Barrié Foundation, from which he promoted, among other topics, an intense activity to support venture scientists through one of the first proof-of-concept funds in the Iberian Peninsula “Fondo de Ciencia”.
