Introduction Bioinformatics Workshop Fiesta (BWF) 2020/22 - ONLINE WORKSHOP

Bioinformatics Workshop Fiesta (BWF) 2020/22 - Introduction to Bioinformatics ONLINE WORKSHOP is now open for registration!

Join this workshop to gain a foundation in bioinformatics and its application to solving biological problems. The workshop will span a period of 8 weeks, with a total of 32 online learning hours on weekends (4hrs x 8 Sundays) with the instructor, plus self learning hours on weekdays (at your discretion), to make yourself comfortable in learning the essentials of the course, as well as start applying it in your current research.

Topics we will cover include:

  • Biological databases and tools
  • Sequence analysis
  • Biological patterns and profiles
  • Molecular evolution
  • Structural biology
  • Proteomics
  • Network and pathway of bioinformatics
  • Genomics & next-generation sequencing (NGS)

Instructor: Raja Farhana R.K., PhD (UK)
Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia
Senior Lecturer, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Malaysia

Raja Farhana is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the Institute of Biological Sciences, Universiti Malaya. Her research focuses on probing into matrix metalloproteinase roles in disease progression. She is particularly interested in developing and adopting bioinformatics approaches on molecular data to gain insight into the molecular evolution and the organisation of molecular systems in diverse organisms from prokaryotes to eukaryotes. She obtained her PhD in bioinformatics at the University of Manchester, UK. She is also teaching at the Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, where she loves sharing her experience and willing to impart her knowledge to her students, while exploring other areas of research in education.

We appreciate your help in sharing this with your friends, and we look forward to seeing you at the workshop.
